Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Station Electrician to perform a wide range of tasks involving energized and de-energized generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. You will respond to emergencies, coordinate restoration of service, and work under supervision to ensure safety and reliability of the grid.

The role requires a two-year associate degree or equivalent experience, a valid CDL, and demonstrated qualification through tests and performance evaluations.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Must qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company.
• Shall meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.

Responsibilities

• Work on conductors and equipment energized above 750 volts with direct supervision or assistance of personnel in higher classification.
• Use live line tools as required for the work.
• Operate crane and aerial lift equipment when in close proximity to energized lines or equipment; operate company vehicles and specialized equipment.
• Inspect stations and buildings; report irregularities and abnormal conditions; complete inspection reports.
