Job summary

The Idaho Department of Education seeks a K-12 English Language Arts & Literacy Coordinator to provide statewide leadership, coordination, and support for ELA and literacy initiatives across all grade levels.

As the Department's lead for K-12 ELA, you will oversee Idaho Content Standards, support high-quality instructional practices, and partner with districts, higher education, and external organizations to strengthen literacy instruction and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree with emphasis in education.
  • Idaho Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education or ELA endorsement.
  • Graduate coursework or degree in education.
  • Additional endorsement in literacy or similar field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as state lead and SME for K-12 ELA with literacy initiative support.
  • Lead development and implementation of Idaho Content Standards in ELA and literacy.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to districts on curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Lead professional development design and delivery to strengthen educator practice.
  • Develop guidance documents and instructional resources for educators and schools.
  • Collect and analyze data for program evaluation and improvement.
  • Coordinate statewide literacy initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with agencies, boards, and partner organizations.
  • Manage related contracts, budgets, and reporting for program activities.
  • Represent the department at meetings and professional organizations.
  • Promote public awareness of education initiatives in ELA/Literacy.
