Job summary

Colorado Department of Education is seeking an EL SR Director to lead statewide literacy and school readiness initiatives, supervising the EL SR Office and coordinating with the Teaching and Learning Unit. You will guide policy, oversee grants, and provide coaching to educators to improve literacy outcomes across Colorado.

You will work in a hybrid environment, manage multiple teams, and report to the Executive Director of the Teaching and Learning Unit.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in literacy, reading, elementary education, or related field with coursework supporting literacy excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead statewide literacy initiatives and ensure coherent, coordinated implementation of early literacy programs.
• Oversee budgets, grants, and reporting for literacy initiatives and CAP4K.
• Provide job-embedded instructional coaching to teachers and administrators to strengthen reading instruction.
