Job summary

The Colorado Department of Education seeks a Senior Literacy Consultant to lead statewide literacy initiatives under the READ Act, partnering with districts to implement evidence-based reading instruction. The role includes managing professional development contracts and delivering trainings to teachers K-3.

You will collaborate with teams, analyze reading data, and develop resources to support multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and at-risk students.

Qualifications

• MASTER’S DEGREE IN LITERACY, READING, ELEMENTARY EDUCATION, OR OTHER RELATED FIELD WITH COURSEWORK TO SUPPORT EXPERTISE IN SCIENTIFICALLY BASED READING RESEARCH AND APPLICATION IN GRADES K-3.
• Five (5) plus years of experience in public education including elementary classroom experience, and a minimum of at least one year of literacy instructional leadership experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google, Teams, Zoom.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the team with the Elementary Literacy and School Readiness Office to accomplish the mission of the office with adherence to policies.
• Support districts with interpretation and implementation of the READ Act.
• Organize, setup, and provide trainings (virtually and/or in-person) in evidence-based practices in teaching reading.
• Travel 30-40% and report to work location per business needs.
• Maintain records and implementation plans for district-based teacher training.
