Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Insurance's Office of State Fire Marshal seeks a Fire & Rescue Trainer/Inspector I to manage and deliver statewide fire and rescue training and certification programs. You will conduct instructor qualifications, audits, and investigations, and ensure compliance with NFPA/OSHA standards while coordinating with local and state agencies.

This position is based at the NC Emergency Training Center with statewide travel and emergency readiness requirements, including

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Fire Science or related field; Level II Instructor or Inspector certification; two years of NC fire training experience.
• In-depth knowledge of Fire & Rescue Commission standards and certification processes.
• Ability to instruct diverse groups including firefighters and instructors.

Responsibilities

• Deliver fire and rescue training programs across the state to instructors, firefighters, and rescue personnel.
• Conduct instructor qualification programs and examinations.
• Audit certification tests, training programs, and testing procedures for compliance.
• Maintain documentation and serve as an instructional resource for local departments.
• Coordinate with agencies to ensure statewide standards and deploy with SERT.
