Job summary

The North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal within the Department of Insurance is seeking a Fire & Rescue Trainer/Inspector I to deliver certification-based training across Region 5, manage records, and coordinate examinations.

This on-site field-based position requires travel to Robeson, Columbus, and surrounding counties; duties include audits, reports, and maintaining alignment with NFPA and IFSAC standards; 24/7 on-call as part of SERT.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Fire Science or related field, plus Level II Instructor or Inspector certification.
• Two years of NC fire and rescue certification training experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Alternatively, qualifying education/experience combination may apply.

Responsibilities

• Deliver certification-based fire and rescue training across regions.
• Maintain comprehensive training records and prepare reports.
• Coordinate testing procedures for multiple certification levels.
• Ensure use of Commission-approved training materials.
