North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal is seeking a knowledgeable State Fire Prevention Inspector to conduct inspections of state owned properties for compliance with the NC Fire Prevention Code and NFPA standards.

This role identifies life safety hazards, prepares inspection reports, assists with code interpretations, and supports fire investigations. It requires extensive travel across the state and may include training responsibilities and disaster-related inspections.

Qualifikationen

• NC Certification as Fire Inspector III is required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing fire prevention inspections on government owned buildings.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing inspections for pyrotechnics.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may apply.

Aufgaben

• Perform annual and special inspections of state owned buildings and equipment.
• Report fire code deficiencies and coordinate corrective action with agencies.
• Conduct after-hours inspections to ensure public safety.
• Schedule and inspect pyrotechnic displays on state property.
• Prepare and submit inspection reports for documentation and insurance review.
• Provide educational materials and represent OSFM at conferences.
• Conduct fire investigations with OSFM Fire Investigation Unit, SBI, ATF, or local agencies.
• Participate in SERT deployments and emergency training drills.
