Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) seeks a State Parks Planner to join the planning program team and develop master plans, general management plans, concept plans, and site plans for new and existing units, guiding visitor use, staff operations and resource preservation.

This role involves supervising staff and coordinating contracted planning services, working with DNCR divisions and external partners, and conducting long-range systemwide planning, including

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience utilizing GIS and/or AutoCAD.
Experience developing graphic presentation materials and planning concepts.
Experience with community planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering and/or natural resource-based management/planning.

Responsibilities

Prepare and update general management plans.
Prepare and update master, conceptual, and site plans for units.
Coordinate contracted planning services for units.
Coordinate with DNCR divisions and external parties on park plans.
Conduct long-range planning including Systemwide Plan.
