Job summary

The Department of Consumer Protection seeks a Consumer Protection Gaming Investigator in Hartford to independently investigate complaints and alleged violations of state gaming laws across lottery, pari-mutuel operations, iCasino, daily fantasy sports, and online sports wagering. The role reports to the Lead Gaming Investigator and Division Director.

This is a full-time position requiring POST certification, located at 450 Columbus Blvd in Hartford with a hybrid telework option under the

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of investigatory experience in law enforcement.
• College training in law enforcement or related field may substitute for General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one half year of experience to a maximum of four years for a Bachelor’s degree.
• Preferred Qualifications include experience conducting criminal and employment background investigations; experience with Connecticut Gaming Laws, Regulations and Technical Standards.

Responsibilities

• Conducts surveillance;
• Interviews witnesses, complainants and others to obtain information;
• Secures evidence in form of statements, documents, records and exhibits for use in administrative hearings and court;
• Investigates backgrounds of licensees, subcontractors and agents;
• Analyzes financial records and other reports;
• Identifies possible threats to internal and external security;
• Gathers information and writes reports;
• Prepares and submits affidavits and applications for arrest warrants;
• Apprehends suspects and makes arrests;
• Presents cases in court;
• Performs related duties as required.
