Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to design and activate the Starship launch hardware systems at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base. You will work on electrical and control systems for Starship and support teams to ensure reliable operation and safe production.

Responsibilities include PLC development, SCADA maintenance, and electrical panel design, with exposure to NEC/NFPA79/UL508A. Weekend/night shifts and travel to launch sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, mechatronics engineering or related field.
• 1+ years of experience with instrumentation power systems design or data acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for launch organization.
• Architect, write, and debug PLC code with maintainable structure.
• Design and implement the controls network and interfaces to data acquisition systems.
• Operate, upgrade, and maintain SCADA infrastructure at launch and production sites.
• Layout NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant electrical panels and create schematics.
• Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.
• Manage checkouts and activation testing of new equipment.
• Write robust procedures to activate technicians for building and activating control systems.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for ground support equipment tooling.
• Develop innovative solutions to special requirements and challenges for the team.
