Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Construction Superintendent – Welding (Starbase) to own the day-to-day execution of field welding activities for fluid systems and infrastructure projects. You will lead and coordinate weld contractors, plan weld sequences, and ensure high-quality, safe installations in a fast-paced test environment.

Qualifications

• Structural welding experience on large-scale projects.
• Experience estimating labor hours and managing welding budgets.
• Strong field experience coordinating weld contractors and multi-disciplinary crews.
• Ability to read piping diagrams, isometrics, fabrication drawings, and redlines.
• Understanding of weld quality, visual inspection, and NDE methods (radiography).
• OSHA 30 certification and CWI certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day execution of welding projects on site.
• Lead site logistics and operations for welding projects, including scheduling, progress tracking, and resource allocation.
• Manage welding material deliveries, storage, and site cleanliness for welding activities.
• Maintain safety plans and ensure compliance with SpaceX quality standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineering, and SpaceX teams on welding scopes.
• Develop cost estimates, solicit bids, and manage budget, schedule, and scope for weld packages.
• Oversee procurement and execution of welding construction projects.
• Track progress and provide daily updates to stakeholders.
• Directly supervise welders and fitters, prioritizing daily work.
• Assist with hands-on welding tasks ~10% of time.
