Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Supervisor, Welding (Starship) to lead the welding team and oversee welding operations for Starship projects. This position demands strong oversight of GTAW, FCAW, TIG, and GMAW processes and a hands-on leadership approach.

Requries 5+ years in welding with 2+ years in leadership, plus ability to interpret drawings per AWS A2.4 and knowledge of AWS codes. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and timely delivery across high-profile aerospace welds.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
5+ years of professional welding experience (GTAW, FCAW, TIG, or GMAW).
2+ years of experience leading a team or project.

Responsibilities

Develop and evaluate welding procedures
Assist with tooling and fixturing designs for weld operation
Select base material and welding material
Control production weld quality
Utilize welding codes and standards
Provide personnel management and supervision, including mentorship of junior welders
Enforce site and personnel safety
Review and edit documentation, including work reports and record keeping
Supervise and provide daily support to the launch projects welding team
Assess candidates and provide recommendations in the hiring process
Plan and schedule work, assign work, and assess completed work
Monitor and approve employee time keeping records
Communicate performance measures and provide direction to team members; set standards and ratings
