Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Area Manager Maintenance – Stamping in Lansing to provide technical and operational leadership across multiple stamping areas. You will drive safe, reliable and competitive operations, lead the Tool & Die and Maintenance teams, and partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Safety and Labor Relations to deliver business results.

You will develop people, strengthen standardized work, remove roadblocks, and ensure readiness for current production, future programs

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading technical, maintenance, or skilled-trades teams in industrial automotive settings.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Strong knowledge of stamping equipment, automation, controls, tooling and related plant-floor systems.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex technical problems and lead cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with autonomy and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Lead Tool & Die and Maintenance teams across Lansing stamping plants, aligning safety, quality, cost and people objectives.
• Oversee tooling condition, repairs, spare components, die-life risks, and preventive maintenance.
• Establish ownership and escalation paths for risks, staffing, and recovery actions.
• Drive proactive reliability through preventive/predictive maintenance and defect reduction.
• Provide clear, fact-based updates to leadership and stakeholders on status and risks.
• Support capital projects, equipment changes, and process modifications from definition to handoff.
