Job summary

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking part-time Stagehands to support theatre operations at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center. The role involves assisting with sound, lighting, rigging, and prop handling during rehearsals and performances, with flexible hours and nights/weekends as needed.

Ideal candidates have at least one year backstage theatre experience, familiarity with lighting, audio, carpentry and wardrobe, and a HS diploma or GED.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience backstage in a live theatre setting or equivalent.
  • Experience across lighting, audio, carpentry and wardrobe.
  • Ability to operate and maintain stage equipment including lighting instruments and rigs.
  • Familiar with common hand tools and basics of electrical power.
  • Safety conscious and able to read and follow instructions.
  • Ability to read a script and work from verbal/written directions.
  • Team player who communicates clearly.
  • Valid driver's license if required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in operation and maintenance of theatre sound, lighting, and/or rigging systems during rehearsals, performances, concerts, and meetings.
  • Assist in loading, unloading, fabrication, installation, and operation of lighting, sound, wardrobe and rigging systems and props.
  • Perform heavy manual labor
