Job summary

The City of Tracy invites applications for a Theatre Technician to support live performances, events, and community programs at the Grand Theatre. The role covers lighting, sound, stagecraft, and backstage operations in a fast-paced, creative venue.

The ideal candidate has solid experience with theatrical tech, a team player attitude, and a willingness to learn new technologies while ensuring safety and high-quality technical work for diverse productions.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and three (3) years of experience in the technical aspects of performing arts productions or related activities.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid California drivers’ license.
  • A fully completed application is required; résumé may not replace required information.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup, run, and/or strike of shows and events.
  • Execute scene changes during performances, place props, raise/lower drops, curtains or scenery.
  • Perform production load-in and load-out.
  • Install rigging, lighting, sound equipment and scenery for events.
  • Operate stage equipment, lighting and sound systems and related gear.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping around stage areas.
  • Prepare light plots and plans for specific productions.
