Job summary

BetterUp is seeking a Staff/Lead Workday Engineer to join our People team as the technical authority for Workday and the HR ecosystem. This role spans from integration architecture to day-to-day configuration, and drives AI enablement across Workday and connected tools.

You’ll partner with Total Rewards, HR Ops, IT leadership and form the backbone for secure, scalable HR systems while mentoring others and delivering high-impact automation initiatives in a hybrid, office-focused environment

Qualifications

12 years of experience in HR systems with hands-on Workday expertise.
Ability to lead complex Workday work independently with end-to-end ownership.
Strong knowledge of Workday integration design (EIB, REST/SOAP) and connected tools.
Ability to translate business needs into scalable system solutions and mentor others.
Experience owning SOX ITGC controls and compliant system practices.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical owner for Workday configuration and support across modules.
Design, build, and maintain integrations with Ashby, Pave, Shareworks, Athena, HC 365.
Define and own the AI roadmap within Workday and drive automation opportunities.
Own SOX ITGC controls and maintain audit-ready documentation.
Collaborate with Total Rewards, HR Ops, IT leadership and mentor team members.
