Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Staff Visual Designer to elevate craft across its design system and product experiences. This senior IC will own foundational visual language, drive large-scale design language improvements, and collaborate with Brand to align product visuals with brand expression.

Applicants should have 10+ years in visual design, a strong portfolio, and proven mentoring ability. Prototyping in React and AI-assisted methods are valued, with a focus on scalable, data-rich product surfaces.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in visual design for product or brand at scale.
A portfolio showing foundational systems work and high-craft visuals.
Ability to articulate design success and coach others.
Systems thinking with a focus on scalable design systems.
Strong stakeholder management and executive collaboration.
Proficiency with design tools and front-end prototyping in React; interest in AI-assisted prototyping.

Responsibilities

Redefine and ship large foundational improvements to Mercury’s design language across all product surfaces.
Partner with Brand and craft leaders to integrate expressive moments into the product UI.
Set the craft bar for the design org with repeatable systems, guidelines, and references.
Coach product designers to raise quality across individual work and the design system.
Collaborate with design systems and engineering to translate visuals into scalable components.
Represent design systems in conversations with Brand, Engineering, and leadership.
