Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Staff Visual Designer to elevate Mercury’s design system and product visuals. You will shape typography, color, and iconography across product surfaces, partnering with Brand and engineering to ensure cohesive, scalable design language.

You will mentor designers, define excellence, and drive craft across the design organization while collaborating with cross-functional teams on high-visibility work.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in visual design at product or brand scale.
• Portfolio showing foundational systems and high-craft visuals.
• Ability to articulate what makes design successful.
• Track record of coaching or mentoring other designers.
• Systems thinking for scalable design systems in data-rich products.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Redefine and ship foundational improvements to Mercury’s design language.
• Partner with Brand to align product visuals with brand language.
• Set the craft bar for the design org with repeatable guidelines.
• Coach product designers to raise quality across work and the design system.
• Collaborate with design systems and engineers to translate visuals into scalable components.
• Represent design systems in conversations with Brand, Engineering, and leadership.
