Job summary

Fastly is seeking a Staff Technical Product Manager for Runtimes to own the runtime surface end-to-end, defining strategy for Compute and VCL and guiding convergence across runtimes. You will drive interoperability, align engineering, product, and leadership, and scale runtime capabilities for AI-era workloads.

You will collaborate across Core Infrastructure, GTM, and on-prem teams to ensure a cohesive platform, while preserving developer productivity and delivering impactful product outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in product management or technical product leadership.
• Runtime and systems fluency: runtimes, containers, isolation models, serverless or edge compute.
• Hands-on with a shipping bias and comfort in ambiguous, fast-moving conditions.
• Conviction and influence: form strong technical opinions and lead without authority.
• Excellent communication between engineers, executives, and customers.
• Customer empathy: translate runtime capabilities into developer value.

Responsibilities

• Own the runtime surface end-to-end: define and drive strategy and roadmap for Compute and VCL.
• Define convergence points and shared primitives across runtimes.
• Own runtime and interoperability strategy to reduce duplicated abstractions.
• Scale Compute for demanding workloads and expand the runtime surface.
• Ensure runtimes behave as intended under real-world conditions.
• Define how runtimes meet the AI era and new execution patterns.
• Advocate for evidence-based runtime direction across teams and leadership.
• Collaborate with Core Infrastructure leaders, GTM, and hybrid/on-prem teams.
