Job summary

MTS Systems Corporation is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer for the Ground Road Vehicles (GRV) division to own EPS controls and inverter subsystems, including motor controllers and power electronics. You will lead cross-functional teams across hardware and software domains and coordinate with the Systems Architect to align with the overall EPS product line.

You will supervise engineers, define architecture, perform trade-off analyses, and present technology roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the EPS controls and inverter solutions, including architecture and hardware selection.
• Lead coordination with motor architecture and EPS stakeholders to ensure schedule, cost, and performance targets.
• Develop specifications, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and concept solutions for EPS opportunities.
• Own controls architecture across EPS products, including current/torque control and real-time software.
• Provide market insight by understanding customer needs for EPS markets and roadmapping technology.
• Create and present roadmaps, identify gaps, and guide internal management.
• Document stakeholder and system requirements for controls and inverter subsystems.
• Direct trade-off analyses and performance assessments to meet requirements.
• Support on-site installation and transition to customers per contract.
• Supervise engineers and mentor team members, setting priorities and evaluating performance.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers to meet project goals.
