Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Subscriptions and Membership Platform team. You will design and own scalable backend systems that drive patient retention and activation, collaborating with commerce, clinical care, pharmacy, and fulfillment teams.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and lead cross-functional initiatives while upholding coding standards and performance goals. This remote-friendly role offers competitive salary and equity.

Qualifications

• Eight-plus years of software engineering experience, with at least two years in a Staff Engineer or senior tech-lead role.
• Proven backend experience in cloud environments (AWS) and with Java/Kotlin, Spring, PostgreSQL.
• Experience building scalable web services and distributed systems, with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of scalable backend solutions for subscriptions and memberships.
• Own core subscription systems: billing, lifecycle, plan changes, cancellations, workflow orchestration.
• Mentor teams on best practices, contribute to coding standards, and drive cross-functional initiatives.
• Partner with product/design to ensure an intuitive end-to-end customer experience.
• Drive security, scalability, and performance improvements across platforms.
• Establish testing standards and reduce technical debt while improving workflows.
