Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Subscriptions and Membership Platform team. This remote role focuses on building scalable backend and frontend experiences, driving retention and activation across our membership services.

You will own architecture, collaborate across commerce, clinical care, pharmacy, and fulfillment, and mentor teams while delivering secure, high-performance systems in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a Staff Engineer or equivalent senior technical leadership role.
• Experience in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Proficiency in backend technologies (Spring, Java, Kotlin, PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks like React, React Native, NextJS, GraphQL, TypeScript).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of scalable and performant backend systems.
• Own core subscription and membership platform components, incl. billing, state management, and workflow orchestration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale platform decisions.
• Mentor engineering peers and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Drive security, reliability, and performance improvements across services.
• Implement monitoring, incident response, and analytics to show impact on activation metrics.
