You will own architecture and technical direction for large-scale payment systems across global markets, ensuring reliability, scalability, and correctness as Coinbase expands into new regions and methods. You will define the multi-year strategy, build fault-tolerant distributed systems, establish coding standards, and partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to translate

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with payments/financial infra or high-volume platforms.
• Architected fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale processing large transaction volumes.
• Led platform-building efforts with shared frameworks and unified APIs.

Responsibilities

• Own multi-year strategy and architecture for the Payments platform across global markets.
• Build and evolve distributed systems with fault isolation, observability, and SLOs.
• Drive engineering quality with paved roads, shared frameworks, and coding standards.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead scaling and reliability initiatives and mentor engineers.
