Block, Inc. is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Acquiring team to advance card payments systems. The role is remote with Pacific Time overlaps and US West Coast hours, based in Bay Area or Seattle or fully remote within the Pacific zone.

You will own project direction, write production code, and build tooling to improve reliability and efficiency of card networks, routing, and settlement. Collaboration with product and finance is central to success.

Qualifications

• Deep card payments knowledge with hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience building and operating reliable financial or payments systems.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction of projects from design through production rollout.
• Lead engineers on one or two projects at a time.
• Write production code and build testing tooling for payments systems.
• Define standards and tooling to make payments decisions durable.
