Job summary

Block is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Acquiring team to advance card payments capabilities across its brands. You will own project direction from design to production, and work with engineers, product, and partners to implement network mandates and cost-effective routing.

The role requires hands-on coding, tooling development, and in-depth knowledge of card networks, authorization, capture, and settlement.

Qualifications

• Deep card payments experience at the message level, including network, acquirer, or processor integrations.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction from design through production rollout for acquiring projects.
• Lead engineers across Square, Cash App, and Afterpay to shape solutions at card-network intersections.
• Write production code, build testing and certification tooling, and review designs and code.
