Job summary

Athelas is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to own the accounts and ledgering spine of our RCM platform, shaping from insurance payments to reconciled books and transparent patient balances.

You will design immutable, event-driven account models, ensure drift-free reporting, and lead architecture reviews while mentoring Senior and Staff engineers. Expect high-stakes, production-grade systems and close collaboration with product and platform teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building software with staff-level ownership of architecture
• Strong backend engineering with Python and relational databases at scale
• Experience designing or operating financial systems, payments, billing, or ledgers

Responsibilities

• Design next-gen account and ledger model with immutable events
• Ensure posting, balances, and reports stay in lockstep and drift is detected
• Reconcile multiple sources of truth and surface discrepancies before customers see them
• Mentor Senior and Staff engineers and lead architecture reviews
• Own complex cross-system initiatives end to end
• Balance security, correctness, reliability, and performance in production
