Job summary

IBM Software is seeking software engineers to grow our Traffic team, building the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud. You will design, develop, and operate high-performance data plane systems across clouds, containers, and virtualization.

Qualifications

• Education in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure/cloud networking experience.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
• Experience building and operating large-scale systems.
• Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, operating systems, etc).
• A self-starter with the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Proficiency in C++, Go, Python, or other statically typed languages.
• Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Experience with Kubernetes Networking and Envoy proxy is a plus.
• Linux kernel networking and eBPF experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build the software underpinning the network data plane for Confluent Cloud.
• Design, develop and operationalize high performance, scalable systems.
• Drive execution of software projects in production with quality focus.
• Leverage open source software to deliver business impact.
• Troubleshoot issues and improve ops across multi-cloud, containers and virtualization.
