Job summary

IBM Software seeks a Principal Engineer to join the Traffic team responsible for building and managing the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud. You will drive architecture and deliver scalable, high-performance network data planes across AWS/Azure/GCP.

You will lead a team of engineers, engage with product and cloud providers, and contribute to open source projects while optimizing cost and performance for distributed cloud workloads. This role can be performed from anywhere in the US.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of cloud infrastructure and cloud networking experience.
• Experience leading architecture and roadmaps as an architect.
• Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Build the software underpinning the Confluent Cloud network data plane platform.
• Drive architecture, roadmap, and execution of software projects with technical leadership.
• Engage with product and cloud providers to solve business problems with technical input.
• Leverage open source and contribute to upstream projects to deliver impact.
• Troubleshoot and optimize ops for a complex stack spanning 3 clouds, microservices, and containers.
• Lead a team of engineers to deliver production impact with a focus on quality.
