Job summary

MoonPay is building a unified identity and KYC platform to support multiple products, partners, and regulated use cases. This Staff Software Engineer role focuses on defining architecture and technical direction, working across product, engineering, compliance, and security to determine how identity is captured, verified, stored, linked and exposed through APIs and SDKs.

You will hold a hands-on position to shape the platform while delivering its core components, leading teams through ambiguity

Qualifications

• Identity platform experience across production systems.
• Defined shared technical foundations beyond a single onboarding or login flow.
• Built or owned public APIs and SDKs with stable contracts and documentation.
• Experience handling sensitive customer data with security and privacy considerations.
• Ability to reason across data models, verification providers, and product workflows.
• Driven technical leader who can shape direction and align multiple teams.
• Hands-on engineering maintaining production systems while leading initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy and architecture for the identity platform.
• Define boundaries between identity, authentication, verification, compliance and onboarding.
• Set engineering standards and ensure durable architectural decisions.
• Align ramps, cards, virtual accounts and enterprise products around a common identity model.
• Design a unified identity layer supporting MoonPay products and partners.
• Model customer identity lifecycle: creation, verification, linking, updates, consent, deletion.
• Build secure APIs/SDKs for internal and external use, with clear ownership boundaries.
• Integrate with KYC providers while preserving a consistent internal model.
• Collaborate with Security, Privacy, Legal and Compliance to maintain usability.
