Job summary

Moonshot in NYC is seeking a Staff Backend & Platform Engineer to own critical systems like identity, funds movement, and blockchain infrastructure. You’ll design, build, and operate secure, scalable services enabling on-chain trading and reliable product delivery.

You will mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with Product, Security, and Ops to uphold best practices in crypto infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5–12+ years in backend/platform engineering with high-scale systems.
• Expertise in identity/security, financial ledgering, or blockchain infra.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems with strong ops mindset.
• Proven track record making architecture decisions and leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Identity & Access Management services.
• Own financial operations systems: transfers, ledgering, reconciliation.
• Build and maintain blockchain infrastructure: node/RPC management.
• Define reliability standards: SLOs, dashboards, incidents, postmortems.
• Lead large cross-functional projects with Product, Security, and Ops.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to standards and design reviews.
• Stay close to industry best practices in crypto security and auth.
