Toast is seeking a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to join the Finance AI & Automation team. You will transform AI prototypes into enterprise backend microservices, data pipelines, and internal tools that streamline the finance stack.

You’ll bridge rapid AI innovation with robust architecture, owning both backend services and lightweight internal tools used by finance teams. The role emphasizes productionizing agentic AI workflows, integrating with billing, ERP, Salesforce, and data warehouses,

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a Staff or senior engineer with deep expertise in distributed backend systems.
• Experience shipping Kotlin services on AWS in production environments.
• Experience productionizing LLM frameworks and agentic architectures with proper controls.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and data flow across systems.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on execution and leadership: architect, code, and operate high-performance backend services.
• Productionize AI workflows into scalable, monitored microservices with audit trails.
• Build end-to-end internal tooling, APIs, pipelines, and lightweight UI surfaces for operators.
• Design resilient integrations across billing platforms, ERP, Salesforce, data warehouses and Toast services.
• Engine uation of enterprise controls with SOX, PCI boundaries, and security working with Compliance teams.
