Job summary

Toast is seeking an AI/Agent Engineer to design and build AI-powered automations across Care tools like Salesforce Service Cloud and Amazon Connect. You will integrate LLM-based systems, agentic frameworks, and workflow automation to reduce manual work and improve outcomes for Customer Care teams and customers.

You will partner with software engineers, Salesforce developers, and operations to ship production-grade AI systems, implement autonomous agentic workflows with human-in-the-loop

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on AI/ML in production
• Practical experience with large language models, agentic frameworks, and prompt engineering
• Strong backend skills in Python, Java, or Go
• Experience with event-driven architectures and building integrations across enterprise systems
• Ability to evaluate automation trade-offs between accuracy, latency, and cost in production AI systems
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate AI-powered automations and agentic workflows for Customer Care Agents
• Build and maintain integrations between LLM-based systems and care tech stack (Salesforce, Amazon Connect, iPaaS)
• Prototype and iterate on agentic solutions with human-in-the-loop checkpoints
• Write automated tests and participate in code reviews to ensure quality and reliability
• Monitor AI system performance, respond to incidents, iterate from data and feedback
• Collaborate with engineers and operations to translate care workflows into intelligent automation
• Leverage AI-augmented tooling to increase development velocity and code quality
