Job summary

Credit Karma is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the technical vision for a domain within our service mesh and edge tier, driving design through production. You will mentor peers, shape engineering practices, and tackle cross-cutting production challenges in a high-traffic environment.

You’ll design and implement scalable systems using Go, Kubernetes, and related patterns, collaborating with stakeholders across squads to ensure reliability and long-term health.

Qualifications

• Experience owning the technical vision for a domain or system end-to-end in a high-traffic production environment, from design through rollout, with real accountability for its long-term health.
• Deep experience designing, building, and owning production systems code in Go and related concurrency patterns.
• Experience operating large-scale distributed systems in production using Kubernetes, Nomad, ECS, or similar orchestration.
• Track record of establishing engineering best practices and raising the bar for the team.
• Experience coaching other engineers through code review and mentorship.

• Lead the technical design of complex systems, weighing tradeoffs and foreseeing long-term implications.
• Establish engineering best practices and drive operational excellence for your systems.
• Solve ambiguous, cross-cutting problems and identify productivity improvements.
• Orchestrate work by sequencing dependencies and surfacing risks early.
• Partner with adjacent teams and stakeholders when your domain touches their systems.
• Coach engineers and provide feedback to help them grow.
