Credit Karma is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the technical vision for a domain within our service mesh and edge tier, shaping design through production and mentoring engineers. You will drive reliability, performance, and scale in a high-traffic environment and partner with adjacent teams to align on architecture and roadmap.

Based in Oakland, CA, you will contribute to building platforms that power millions of members across the U.S., Canada, and U.K.

Qualifications

• Experience owning the technical vision end-to-end in a high-traffic production environment.
• Deep experience designing, building, and owning production systems code in Go with pattern knowledge.
• Extensive experience operating large-scale distributed systems on Kubernetes or comparable platforms.
• Track record of establishing engineering best practices and raising the bar for the team.
• Coaching engineers through code review, design feedback, and mentorship to improve independence.
• Ability to work with peers and stakeholders outside your immediate team.
• History of rapid ramp into unfamiliar technical domains and delivering meaningful work.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision for a domain within our service mesh and edge tier from design through implementation.
• Lead the technical design of complex systems, weighing tradeoffs and long-term implications.
• Establish and encourage engineering best practices within the team, driving operational excellence.
• Solve ambiguous, cross-cutting problems and identify productivity improvements.
• Orchestrate work by sequencing dependencies, surfacing risks early, and adapting plans as requirements shift.
• Partner with adjacent teams and stakeholders when your domain touches their systems.
• Coach engineers, giving actionable feedback to sharpen technical judgment.
