Job summary

Fastly is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Compute Platform team. You will help scale our hosting infrastructure, write platform-level Rust code, and design high-quality APIs for customers to use services built by other teams.

You should have 7+ years in software development, with at least 3 in high-reliability systems programming (ideally Rust), plus experience with asynchronous, concurrent code and a passion for learning bleeding-edge technologies like Wasmtime.

Qualifications

• Experience with asynchronous, concurrent code
• Willingness to learn bleeding-edge technologies and contribute to open source like Wasmtime

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with team members and cross-functional teams
• Contribute to code reviews and improve codebase and processes
• Lead projects technically and communicate status to stakeholders
• Write platform-level Rust code addressing host concerns and back pressure
• Analyze performance and stability for high-scale systems
• Ensure a large-scale production system meets availability requirements
