Job summary

queue.inc is seeking a hands-on Staff Engineer to own the edge software that runs on our prescription-automation machine. You will design, code, release, and troubleshoot the edge stack, coordinating with firmware, vision, and platform squads.

This role emphasizes delivery through the team, not people management, with strict reliability and safety requirements. The edge software is Rust-based; you will work daily in Rust on an embedded Linux system, designing robust fault paths and cross-squad

Qualifications

• Written production C, C++ or Rust on Linux and owned a device's software end to end.
• Hands-on hardware integration and debugging over CAN/RS-485/USB.

Responsibilities

• Design and code the edge software end to end, from boards to state machines.
• Define and version contracts with microcontrollers and vision service.
• Manage releases, field reports, and diagnostics with reliability engineers.
• Own seams where edge software meets firmware, vision, cloud and imaging.
• Set and uphold a high review standard; mentor engineers into leaders.
• Document decisions with options weighed and reasons.
• Design fail-closed behavior where the machine stops safely and explains why.
