Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own end-to-end features within the Customer Platform. You will design and build backend services in Go, REST, and gRPC, and act as the technical anchor across Chainguard teams to enable seamless integration and onboarding for customers.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to a product-driven roadmap, and help extend AI-powered capabilities into customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Production Go experience
• Ownership of API design and backend systems at scale
• Experience collaborating across engineering teams to align standards and integration patterns
• Comfort with ambiguity and problem-solving with concrete path forward
• Mentoring engineers without formal management title
• Familiarity with cloud-native environments (Kubernetes, cloud provider APIs)
• Experience with entitlements, billing, or platform infrastructure a plus
• Exposure to AI-powered product features a plus

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end from design through implementation, rollout, and iteration with PM and partner teams
• Design, build, and evolve backend services (Go, REST/gRPC) powering entitlement, policy, and onboarding
• Be the primary technical interface between Customer Platform and other Chainguard teams
• Extend AI foundation into customer-facing product experiences
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior and mid-level engineers
• Contribute to a product-driven roadmap with clear deadlines and outcomes
