Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Customer Platform, a remote-friendly role spanning US/UK/Canada. You will own end-to-end features, design scalable backend systems, and serve as the main technical interface to other Chainguard teams. You’ll mentor engineers and influence a product-driven roadmap with clear outcomes.

You’ll work with Go, REST/gRPC, and cloud-native environments, shaping entitlement and onboarding services while extending AI-enabled experiences for customers.

Qualifications

• Production Go experience.
• Ownership of API design and backend systems at scale.
• Experience coordinating across multiple engineering teams.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity with diagnosis and path forward.
• Ability to mentor engineers without a management title.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud provider APIs.
• Experience with entitlements, billing, or platform infra is a plus.
• Exposure to AI-powered product features is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end: from design through implementation, rollout, and iteration with Product Management and partner teams.
• Design, build, and evolve backend systems (Go, REST/gRPC APIs) powering entitlement, policy, and onboarding services.
• Serve as the primary technical interface between Customer Platform and other Chainguard engineering teams.
• Extend Chainguard's AI foundation into customer-facing product experiences.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior and mid-level engineers.
• Contribute to a product-driven roadmap with deadlines and clear outcomes.
