Job summary

Chainguard, a trusted source for open source, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Customer Platform. This remote role supports customers across the US, UK, and Canada and focuses on APIs, entitlements, policies, and platform primitives that connect customers to Chainguard.

You will design and build backend systems in Go, work with REST/gRPC APIs, mentor engineers, and collaborate across multiple teams to ship iterative improvements, including AI-powered features, in a fast-paced,

Qualifications

• Production Go experience
• Strong ownership of API design for backend systems
• Ability to mentor engineers without management title
• Comfort operating in ambiguity with diagnosis and path forward
• Familiarity with cloud-native environments (Kubernetes)
• Experience with entitlements, billing systems, or platform infrastructure is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end from design to rollout and iteration
• Design, build, and evolve backend systems (Go, REST/gRPC) powering entitlements and onboarding
• Serve as primary technical interface between Customer Platform and other teams
• Extend AI foundation into customer-facing product experiences
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior and mid-level engineers
• Contribute to a product-driven roadmap with clear outcomes
