Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead a team of engineers building products used by customers and associates. You will contribute to design, implementation, and deployment of production applications, guiding architecture decisions and ensuring reliability.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with product teams, and help improve systems for high availability, performance, and security across large-scale services.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong backend development with Java, APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Kafka and/or Pub/Sub for high-volume distributed apps.
• Hands-on with GCP and BigQuery; Elasticsearch experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team of engineers to build and design product features loved by customers and associates.
• Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains software with value delivery in mind.
• Partners with Product for well-defined user stories and testable requirements.
• Mentors junior engineers and guides technical discussions across teams.
