Gusto, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in New York to join the teams behind our customer-facing products.

You will shape features from design through launch and ongoing iteration, writing clean frontend code and building reliable backend APIs while guiding product direction and owning post-launch outcomes. You will mentor engineers, scale a large Ruby/Rails + React application, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer pain points into rapid, daily iterations

Qualificações

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Experience building scalable solutions that eliminate customer pain.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate development, improve testing, and deliver new product capabilities.
• Curiosity and experimentation with emerging AI frameworks, applying and sharing best practices.
• Experience owning multi-quarter projects that solve complex engineering problems and make measurable customer impact at scale.
• Ability to mentor engineers to maximize their performance and impact.
• Two day travel to a Gusto office for onboarding is required.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and test core products such as Payroll, Benefits, HR, Retirement, Gusto Money, Gusto Solo, and Gusto Pro.
• Mentor other engineers to solve highly complex problems at scale.
• Help scale one of the largest Ruby/Rails and Javascript/React applications in the world.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Data, Design, and Platform Engineering to understand customer pain points and iterate to launch daily.
• Build products that customers genuinely love.
