Job summary

Extreme Networks, a global networking leader, seeks a Staff Software Engineer to drive development of core platforms that process real-time network and operational data. You will help power AI experiences, agentic automation, and scalable cloud services across Extreme's portfolio.

You'll design and lead large-scale distributed systems, mentor engineers, and tackle complex technical challenges in a fast-growing environment. This full-time role reports to SW Systems Engineering.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years across the full software lifecycle including architecture, design, coding and deployment.
• 8+ years programming in at least one language (Python, Java, Go or C++).
• 5+ years leading design/architecture of large-scale distributed systems on cloud platforms.
• Experience in real-time microservices, streaming, or large-scale analytics.
• Mentoring engineers or leading teams; solving complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of core platforms and services processing large volumes of network and operational data.
• Build scalable, secure, observable, and reliable systems for enterprise use cases.
• Own design and architecture of distributed components across cloud platforms.
• Collaborate across product, security, and data teams to drive AI experiences.
• Experiment with emerging tech and deliver state-of-the-art software and data solutions.
