Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) seeks a full-time Staff Psychotherapist to provide triage assessment, crisis intervention, and brief individual, couple or group therapy for UVA students. The role includes intake assessments, community outreach, and consultation to faculty, staff, parents, students, and other community members.

This in-person position requires licensure or license-eligibility in Virginia, with background checks and a drug screen.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling or related field.
• 3 years post-graduate counseling experience.
• Licensed as LPC or LCSW in Virginia or license-eligible; must be licensed within 6 months of hire.
• Pass background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and clinical consultation.
• Provide triage and intake assessments.
• Provide daytime and after-hours crisis services as requested.
• Provide outreach to the UVA community and consultation to faculty, staff, parents, students, and other community members.
• Supervise and provide didactic instruction to trainees in psychology as requested.
• Participate in treatment teams, staff meetings, departmental committees, and special projects.
