Job summary

The University of Virginia's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) seeks a full-time Staff Psychotherapist to provide psychotherapy, crisis intervention, triage, and outreach to the UVA community. The role includes supervision of trainees and collaboration with faculty, staff, families, and students in a university setting.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree and 3 years of post-graduate counseling, plus licensure as an LPC or LCSW in Virginia or eligible.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• 3 years of post-graduate counseling experience.
• Licensed as a LPC or LCSW in Virginia or license-eligible; must be licensed within 6 months of hire.
• Successful candidates pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and clinical consultation.
• Provide triage and intake assessments.
• Provide daytime and afterhours crisis services as requested.
• Provide consultation to parents, students, faculty, staff, and other community members.
• Facilitate referrals to mental health services in the community.
• Provide outreach to the UVA community.
• Provide supervision and didactic instruction to therapists in training.
• Participate in treatment teams, staff meetings, departmental committees, and special projects.
• Maintain ethical and timely documentation in the EMR.
• Comply with SHW Clinical Staff Bylaws, policies and procedures.
• Other duties may be assigned.
