You will participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, and contribute to disaster recovery planning. This role emphasizes remote collaboration and async communication across geographies.

Qualifications

• 9+ years experience in Software Engineering or equivalent in production environments.
• Associate’s Degree + 8+ years in software engineering or related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree + 7+ years in software engineering or related field.
• Master’s Degree + 5+ years in software engineering or related field.
• Doctorate + 3+ years in software engineering or related field.
• Equivalent experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product and feature teams to influence data modeling for performance, availability, and operability at GitHub scale.
• Design and ship SDKs, client libraries, and tooling used by the team.
• Define and maintain SLOs and operational standards for the database platform.
• Write technical docs and advocate for system health and quality.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, load shedding, and regional failover plans.
