Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Product Manager to define and drive the AI/ML training workflow strategy for the systems enabling large-scale model training, experimentation, evaluation, and developer productivity across GM’s autonomous vehicle platform.

This role requires strong technical judgment, customer empathy for ML practitioners, and the ability to translate complex needs into clear product requirements while collaborating with engineering, data, finance, and autonomy stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management or related technical product experience.
• Experience building AI/ML, data science, or developer productivity products.
• Proven ability to define vision, strategy, requirements, and success metrics.
• Strong understanding of ML lifecycle including data pipelines, training, and production handoffs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own product roadmap and execution for AI/ML training workflow capabilities.
• Understand end-to-end ML training lifecycle from data selection to deployment handoffs.
• Represent ML engineers, data scientists, and autonomy users to prioritize requirements.
• Define requirements for training platforms, developer tools, observability, and automation.
• Drive KPIs for developer productivity, training throughput, and cost efficiency.
• Balance customer impact, engineering complexity, and infrastructure cost in prioritization.
• Address reliability debt and articulate tradeoffs to senior leaders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact capabilities on timelines.
• Use data, research, and benchmarking to validate roadmap decisions.
• Communicate status, risks, and recommendations to senior leaders and partners.
• Mentor other product managers in technical product best practices.
