Job summary

Peak Energy in Burlingame, California seeks a Staff Power Systems Engineer to own electrical architecture, integration, and deployment of energy storage sites across utilities and data centers. You will define architectures, interfaces, and SCADA requirements while translating customer requirements into system designs.

The ideal candidate brings deep power systems expertise, comfort presenting to technical and non-technical audiences, and experience with interconnection standards and site

Qualifications

• 8+ years in power systems engineering for utility-scale storage, grid interconnection, or data center power
• PE license or actively pursuing licensure
• Expertise in AC/DC power distribution, protection and control, and grid interconnection

Responsibilities

• Serve as engineering point-of-contact for site-level power systems through product lifecycle and installations
• Conduct power systems studies and test plans (load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protection coordination)
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers/partners to meet Peak’s objectives
• Establish commissioning test plans and support execution
• Assist in RCCA for site issues and failures
• Define integration requirements for BESS deployments (grid connection, protection, load profiles)
• Drive interconnection and grid-code compliance with regulatory teams
• Maintain studies, guides, and customer-facing docs
• Travel to sites to support commissioning and issue resolution
