Job summary

Root Inc. seeks a Staff Product Manager to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for pricing platforms and ML workflows that power pricing decisions across the company.

You will own the Pricing Platform System (PPS), lead cross-functional teams with Engineering, Data Science, and Actuarial, and drive end-to-end product delivery in a fast-paced insurtech environment, including expanding nationwide across the US.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management experience, ideally in fintech, insurtech, or data-intensive regulatory environments.
• Strong systems thinking and comfort with technical concepts like predictive modeling, APIs, and workflow orchestration.
• Drive integration of LLMs and AI capabilities into data science workflows.
• Data-driven mindset with experience partnering with data scientists and analytics teams.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex concepts into simple user experiences.
• Experience in agile development methodologies and customer-centric mindset.
• Detail-oriented, multitasking ability in a growing organization; collaborative without direct authority.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% for quarterly in-person events.

Responsibilities

• Own the Pricing Platform roadmap and iterate on the vision for 2027 and beyond.
• Lead a team of engineers through the full product lifecycle from ideation to deployment.
• Partner with Engineering, Data Science, and Actuarial to define platform needs and a data-driven roadmap.
• Guide end-to-end ML platform capabilities, including leveraging LLMs to automate workflows.
• Write PRDs that align business strategy with engineering plans.
• Maintain a prioritized product backlog using data-driven decision making.
• Accelerate data/model feature to production deployment.
• Improve pricing workflow speed, reliability, observability, and usability.
• Build self-service tooling for faster experimentation and feature creation.
• Reduce regulatory bottlenecks across pricing and filing workflows.
• Support nationwide expansion by adapting pricing capabilities to new states.
