Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Core Pricing team. You will design and implement scalable, low-latency services that convert ML underwriting outputs into accurate risk and profitability measures across multiple product lines.

You will collaborate with data scientists and product managers, evolve the pricing platform architecture, and mentor engineers to improve performance, testing, and observability in a rapidly growing fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Python with experience in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience designing scalable APIs and microservices.
• Cloud experience with AWS or GCP; strong problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable, high-performance services for real-time pricing.
• Collaborate with data scientists and product managers to translate goals into technical solutions.
• Drive architectural improvements to support growth and new products.
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar for system design and reliability.
• Ensure pricing engines are tested, reviewed, and monitored in production.
