Job summary

Root Insurance seeks a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the pricing ML platform, owning architecture and versioned contracts between data, features, models, and pricing. You will drive self‑serve tooling and instrument the platform for reproducibility and production readiness.

You will mentor engineers, define reliability standards, and partner with Data Science and Actuarial teams to accelerate pricing innovations across the end‑to‑end R&D process.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with ML platforms or distributed systems.
• Proven ownership of production ML infrastructure components and platforms.
• Strong design skills for reliable, scalable data processing and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Define long‑term technical roadmap for pricing ML tools and workflows.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate needs into scalable platform capabilities.
• Automate end‑to‑end workflows and leverage LLM tech for automation.
• Write and review critical platform code and guide cross‑team design.
